Pin the slightly damp pelt to the board, fur side down. Beaver are not stretched on a stretcher.

This could lead to a lot of deflected hammer blows and resulting sore fingers when you're trying to tack out a beaver pelt. From time to time, remove the pelt from the board and stretch it vigorously in all directions.
